Lefse—you know you want some!

*********LEFSE********
Wefse...
Wefse is what bwings us togeda... today.
Wefse...
That blessed twadition.
That sugar wiff-in da butta.
Then wefse, sweet wefse will fowoah you fowever.
So tweasure yo wefse.
(Name that movie!)
Just check out that yumminess! I have to thank my niece for taking over photo duty and getting some great shots of the event.Don't hate me because I'm beautiful. Not everyone can pull off the disheveled, stringy-haired, hard-working, lefse roller/flipper look! It takes a special person to do that.
This is my niece (the one who took some of these great photos). This was her first time making lefse. She did pretty good. After attempting to roll she decided flipping was more her cup of tea. Don't you just love her cute pink hat?
There she is again with my Mom. Hi Mom!
Levi was ready to go, holy sock and all!
Or not. I guess every circus needs a slacker!
Did you notice the lefse nazi in the background? She is definitely NOT a slacker!

This boy was no slacker either. He's all business when it comes to lefse!
Oh, and here is my little sis gettin' her roll on! You go girl.

We ended up with 162 lefses and an unkown number of casualties. The evidence needed to be consumed. They may not have been pretty to look at, but boy did they taste heavenly!

Flippin' & Tippin' Lefse Party

The boys, my sister, the dog, and I are headed to my grandma's for the weekend. We are going to make lefse. It's become an annual get-together. We call it our Flipin' & Tippin' party. I even created a logo and my sister and I put it on aprons for everyone last year.

See, even the oldest boy got an apron.
All these pictures are from last year, but I'll be posting pictures from this party next week. Have a great weekend! I know I will.
Remember your blessings!

Winchester is trying so hard to get Tristan to like him and play with him. He even takes her his favorite squeaky toy and sets it in front of her like a peace offering. It's so darn cute! Of course it doesn't help that he tries to play with Tristan like she's a dog, jumping all over the place and being a spaz. It's a good thing she's not a timid cat.

Winchester: Tristan, want to play?
Photobucket

Tristan: I am much too busy to play with a spaztic stinky dog.
Photobucket

Winchester: We could play chase the cat. Go ahead... run.
Photobucket

Tristan: You, again?!
Photobucket

Have you no dignity?
Photobucket

Winchester: Look into my eyes... you want to play with the dog. You need to play with the dog.
Tristan: Oh brother!

Family Favorites Recipe Book

I've wanted to blog about my cookbook since I started the project in 2007, but since the people I was making it for read my blog I couldn't. But, now that they all have their book I can share. Yay!

I started this project in 2007 and slowly (very slowly) started building my pages, scanning and gathering pictures, and collecting everyone's favorite recipes. I'm not very good at keeping gift secrets, especially when I'm excited about them, but I was able to keep this one under wraps, for the most part. My sister accidentally discovered a version of the cookbook when I left it on the counter not realizing she would be visiting.

So, without further ado, here are a few favorite pages I'd like to share. I loved working with our old photographs. Oh, and I'd better clarify, these were all done digitally in Photoshop.
These are a family favorite. The pictures are of my dad and Levi.
This is a picture of my Grandma Ann as a young woman. I miss her so much!
This is my other grandma, Ora, with Levi.

I'll be sharing more pages in the future. Even the ones with embarrasing pictures of me as a kid. I believe I have 70+ and more recipes still to add.

Remember your blessings!

My Two Nuts

A favorite blogger of mine is having a contest sponsored by Shutterfly. They are promoting their photo books so I thought I would check it out to see how easy it is to use. These would make great gifts for Christmas, or you could create a cookbook of your favorite recipes. They are very reasonably priced. I can't speak to the quality since I haven't ordered this book yet, but I figure that for the price I can order this book I created of my boys and find out. I love those two nuts of mine!

Try it out. It's a lot of fun.
